Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has declared the stable development of the local gaming industry. According to the analytical report, in Q2 2025, the market increased revenue indicators by 1.9% YoY.

The sphere’s profits from the beginning of April to the end of June amounted to SEK 7.02 billion (approximately $744 million). This result is 5.9% higher than the one in this year’s 1st quarter.
The largest sum was generated by commercial iGaming. The total revenue from the vertical exceeded SEK 4.63 billion, an increase of 1.4% YoY.
The segment includes:
- digital casino content;
- portals with slots;
- sports betting.
The bookmaker sector showed a significant impact on the industry turnover. The early stages of the UEFA Euro 2024 took place at the end of last year’s Q2, causing a strong surge in activity among the population and a rise in profits. Although 2025 had no such prominent event, its 2nd quarter still generated a solid amount.
Results in the Land-Based Vertical
The niche of state lotteries and physical slot machines has seen a notable increase, with SEK 1.42 billion, representing a 10.2% YoY jump. It is the most evolved segment in the report. Meanwhile, the income of public-benefit raffles fell by 5.3% to SEK 846 million. The social bingo sector remained stable at SEK 49 million.
Brick-and-mortar commercial gambling brought in SEK 63 million. Another SEK 8 million came in during the last weeks of Casino Cosmopol’s activities. The venue was the last one operated by state-owned Svenska Spel and closed on April 24th, 2025, following a government decision to abolish ground establishments. A complete ban on stationary gaming facilities will come into effect on January 1st, 2026.
