Arizona’s sports betting authority is preparing for another licensing round. Following the departure of multiple operators and market consolidation, vacancies have emerged in the US region for new companies to fill.
Deadlines for Document Submission
The state’s industry regulator, ADG, has announced the start of an application period for bookmaker certifications. The window will be open from June 26th through July 10th, 2026, inclusive. The deadline is 5:00 PM local time.
At least 2 permits will be available in the new round: 1 for Arizona’s tribal organisations and 1 for sports franchise partners. Cliff Holden, ADG’s Assistant Director of Certification and Licensing, emphasised the department’s commitment to customer protection and comprehensive applicant vetting.
Authorisation Dynamics: Current Changes
The US region’s regulated sportsbook market began operating in 2021 after legislation was passed, with up to 20 documents allowed to be issued. Half of these were reserved for the local tribes, and the other 10 for partners of pro sports organisations.
Despite strong business interest at the market’s launch, the number of active licensees has gradually declined. Arizona currently has 14 authorised brands, providing the state with the resources to attract new revenues to the budget.

The regulator opens additional application windows whenever permits become available in the jurisdiction. The previous round took place in the summer of 2024. Since the official approval of event bets, the state has become one of the most active wagering hubs in the US. According to the regulator, total accepted stakes have reached $33.9 billion since 2021. During this period, the budget received $179.9 million in special fees.
By the end of 2025 alone, operator revenue exceeded $713 million. Arizona ranks 6th among all American markets in terms of wagering volume.
