Denmark’s gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, has announced a considerable transformation of the legal gaming framework and the launch of a new certification program from July 1st, 2025.
About the Upcoming Changes
According to the local authority, the proposed initiative aims to increase the transparency of the gambling business in Denmark. As part of the novel campaign, suppliers involved in the country’s market will have to align their documentation with a fresh template.
Previously, operators submitted compliance reports on behalf of software providers. Starting in July, the latter are required to prepare the papers themselves.

Such corporations will have to obtain the following documents:
- a supplier licence;
- a certificate to conduct B2C activities.
The authority has also released a dedicated guide, Newsletter 58, with a complete list of proposed rules. A separate chapter of the manual describes 7 types of permits and the terms of their issuance. The category of document will be determined by a particular enterprise’s internal structure and niche of activity.
A fixed period of 6 months has been allocated for the transition to the new program. During this time, industry brands must bring their business papers into legal compliance and obtain additional licences if necessary.
Gaming companies may face penalties if they ignore fresh requirements or fail to meet the deadlines.
