The online segment continues to drive the dynamics of Spain’s gambling market. Financial reports show that web casinos are making a decisive contribution to industry growth, confirming the effectiveness of digital formats in a regulated environment.

According to the country’s Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, internet-based GGR reached €405.36 million for the period from July to September. This figure represents a 16.49% YoY increase, although it is slightly lower than in Q2, according to the authority’s report.
Other 3rd-quarter metrics also climbed from the previous year:
QoQ, the local industry demonstrated minor fluctuations. Balance replenishments remained almost the same (0.03% up), cashing out rose (2.7% up), and page generation declined (2.7% down).
Niche costs in the 3rd quarter amounted to €154.84 million, a 17.89% higher YoY. Nevertheless, compared to Q2, this figure decreased by 6%, indicating a more conservative approach to the budget.
Promotional activities were the main contributors to the expansion of the wagering and casino marketing field. Spending on the category jumped by 23.47% to €82.03 million from the same time in 2024. Of this amount, €28.57 million was attributed to bonuses paid as rewards. Over €53.45 million was allocated to initiatives unrelated to prize pools.
Affiliate programs also strengthened their position. Partner expenses rose by 19.77% to €15.86 million. Meanwhile, advertising reached €54.65 million, representing 8.42% YoY growth.
These projects shape Spain’s largest iGaming vertical, accounting for almost 57% of the total. Gross revenues for the niche reached €230.97 million, up 22.93% from the 3rd quarter of 2024.
Slots played a fundamental role in this evolution. Their YoY growth amounted to 27.78%, and QoQ, the latest result was 8.54% higher.
The live roulette segment also demonstrated a positive tendency. It experienced a 4.2% quarterly jump. Meanwhile, conventional wheels and blackjack declined by 8% and 3.22%, respectively.
Bookmakers account for 36.88% of the market. Their earnings dropped by 13.02% compared to the 2nd quarter, but still showed a 10% yearly increase.
There were also notable changes within the segment:
Bingo continued to lose ground: lower by 5.92% QoQ and 13.48% YoY. Despite accounting for only 5.36%, poker climbed 13.59% from the previous quarter and 5.8% from the same period in 2024.

The authority’s report shows that online slots and roulette remain the major drivers of growth in the country’s entertainment industry, while other segments are developing unevenly. In these conditions, operators should focus on the strongest products and flexibly plan their entry or scaling strategies.
