The Danish Gambling Authority presented a report on the first trimester of 2022, which indicated a 20% enhancement in proceeds from the industry in comparison with the same period in 2021.
Revenues from the industry’s various verticals increased by $ 31.8 million, totalling approximately $ 210 million.
The logical explanation for this staggering growth is that, in the same period in 2021, all land-based businesses were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2022, all limitations were removed, allowing brands to perform.
The liberalisation of the sector in the state provided bookmaker platforms and online casinos the space for rapid development. However, compared to the first quarter of 2021, this year both verticals have reduced players' spending.
The total market revenue was roughly $ 1.36 billion in the previous year.
With an income of $ 480 million, or slightly more than one-third of the market's overall revenue, lotteries owned the lion's share of the industry. The smallest vertical was land-based casinos, which accounted for 2% of the market and $ 31 million in total.
