The UKGC has introduced uniform rules for depositing funds to iGaming accounts. The new regulations will officially come into effect on June 30th, 2026. The reform is part of the Commission’s larger campaign to allow players to comprehensively manage their spending.
All digital brands with UK licences are now required to provide clients with the ability to configure settings based solely on the volume of funds put into accounts over a particular time. According to the UKGC, only this tool may now be titled as a «deposit limit.» Any other transaction restrictions are considered additional measures that users may implement at their discretion.
The new regulation for the web gambling business in Great Britain was introduced because the earlier mechanisms often led to confusion or turned out to be too costly. Previous conditions related to the account replenishment functioned more as loss or withdrawal limits, frequently resulting in users exceeding their planned spending.
Some legal changes will come into force already on October 31st, 2025.
The expanded list of requirements for operators includes the following:
The Commission’s recent study revealed that in economically vulnerable regions, gambling participation is almost twice as high as in areas with stable social and cultural environments. This situation requires a targeted government reaction and the implementation of more personalised user protection measures.
According to the UKGC Major Policy Projects Director’s statement, the organisation aims to help clients better analyse and control their behaviour. Helen Rhodes believes that the upcoming shifts will ensure a consistent and transparent realm for gamblers, while assisting operators in developing a responsible and sustainable industry.
