Spillemyndigheden, Denmark’s gaming authority, has published a report on the country’s gambling market. In April 2025, the digital vertical accounted for almost half of all industry revenue. This GGR amounted to DKK 331 million (about $51.2 million), which is a 21.4% YoY uplift.
The evolution of the iGaming niche resulted in an overall 11.6% yearly increase in national market earnings. The total gross gain for April was DKK 665 million (approximately $103 million). The trend remains stable despite a slight decline in the land-based segment’s income.
The largest surge in the local gambling industry’s profitability was noticed in December 2024. Back then, the GGR indicator reached DKK 347 million.
Revenue was distributed as follows:
Another significant change is the global shift towards mobile platforms and services. Almost 68% of activity originated from users accessing internet casinos via portable devices. In 2024, this figure was 59%. The frequency of desktop logins dropped to 32.1%, respectively. The most significant iGaming traffic for the month occurred on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The GGR for the period January to April 2025 reached DKK 2.53 billion. Of this amount, 50.3% came from digital casinos.
The Danish betting segment’s revenue increased by 6.1% compared to last year’s data.
The total earnings of the vertical were distributed as follows:
The highest activity rates throughout the month were recorded on weekends and Tuesdays.
The niche’s profits declined by 3.6% YoY to DKK 93 million. The majority of the revenue came from gaming halls, which accounted for 79.7% of the total machine-based GGR. The remaining 20.3% came from terminals installed in restaurants. Tuesdays were also the busiest days at the physical points of sale.
The gross gain of land-based casinos for the month reached DKK 31 million, which is the highest volume since December. A similar figure was recorded in the previous year. Finally, bingo draws generated DKK 3 million.
A report from the authority shows that by the end of April, over 60,000 people had registered for ROFUS, Denmark’s self-exclusion program. Of these, 78.3% and 21.7% were men and women, respectively. Over 64% of users chose permanent elimination. The StopSpillet hotline received 50 calls related to ludomania issues throughout the month.
In addition to protecting vulnerable groups, the Danish regulator continues to strengthen its monitoring of illegal gambling services. For this purpose, several strategic agreements have been concluded with leading names.
